Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca will participate, on Wednesday, alongside several members of the Cabinet, in the first joint meeting of the Governments of Romania and the Kingdom of Spain, hosted in Castellon de la Plana, Agerpres reports.

According to a Government release, alongside the head of the Executive, Romania will be represented in the joint meeting by Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu, National Defence Minister Angel Tilvar, Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration Attila Cseke, Labour and Social Solidarity Minister Marius Budai, Minister of Health Alexandru Rafila and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Petre Daea.

„The joint meeting of the Romanian and Spanish Governments marks a moment of increased symbolic value, from a double perspective. It is the first joint intergovernmental meeting, also foreshadowing the 10th anniversary in 2023 of the establishment of the Romanian-Spanish Strategic Partnership. Apart of being a strategic partner, Spain is also a close friend of Romania. Throughout the years, we have managed to build a relationship based on mutual trust, a substantial, dynamic political dialogue and a constructive and open approach. We have an economic and sectorial cooperation which is dynamic and diverse. Romania and Spain also have similar approaches on several strategic files in the EU and NATO context. In addition, our ties are even closer due to the very strong, well-integrated and very active community of almost 1 million Romanians who contributes to the development of the Kingdom of Spain’s society and economy,” Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca stated, as quoted in the press release.

On the sidelines of the joint meeting, a series of Memorandums of Understanding shall be signed regarding sectoral cooperation in areas such as labour and social protection, political consultations in the area of foreign affairs, training of diplomats, culture, cooperation in emergency situations, agriculture and health, the quoted source states.

Within the visit, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca will meet with representatives of the Romanian community from the host city of the meeting of the two Governments.
