The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, in order to strengthen business relations and develop economic cooperation between the two states, according to a press release of the CCIR sent to Agerpres.
The Memorandum of Understanding includes a new article, which refers to the joint creation and management of a platform for capitalizing on economic opportunities related to the future rebuilding of Ukraine.
Thus, the CCIR will select the Romanian companies that meet the requirements launched by the Ukrainian side.
„From the first moments of the military aggression of the Russian Federation, the CCIR expressed its full solidarity with its Ukrainian counterparts, supporting the efforts to continue the activity of businessmen in this country. Thus, we helped to streamline the transport of goods from Ukraine, we contributed to the creation of a corridor for the transport of aid to this country and we were consulted by the Ukrainian business community regarding the relocation of important businesses to Romania. Today, together with our Ukrainian colleagues, we laid the foundations for the creation of an integrated platform that empower Romanian companies in the reconstruction effort that will follow. We are glad that we already have many signals from the business environment in Romania, interested in participating in this process,” said the president of CCIR, Mihai Daraban.
The document was signed on February 15 by the presidents of the two chambers of commerce, in the presence of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Romania, Ihor Prokopchuk, as well as the Ukrainian political advisor, Oleg Balika.
„This war deeply affected us on all levels, Ukraine recording great losses in terms of trade activity. If we can talk about one positive thing in this whole conflict, it is the proximity to our Romanian neighbours, with whose help we managed to overcome many difficulties. Thus, we particularly appreciate the CCIR initiative to start this very important project for Ukraine,” said the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, Gennadiy Chyzhykov.
