Romania’s Donose wins gold, silver medals at Junior World Weightlifting Championships

Romanian weightlifter Tiberiu Ionut Donose won a gold medal and two silver medals in the men’s 73 kg class on Sunday at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Leon, Spain.

Donose of CS Rapid took gold in the snatch style, with 149 kg, and silver in the clean and jerk, with 174 kg, ahead of the American Caden Taiyo Cahoy, with 180 kg, and another silver for total, 323 kg, the gold went to Cahoy, with 326 kg, according to the Romanian Weightlifting Federation.

Romania already had two medals won by Ioana Madalina Miron in the women’s 45 kg class: gold in clean and jerk and bronze in total.

Romania has lined up seven athletes, three in the women and four in the men’s events, at the Under-20 Junior World Weightlifting Championships, September 19-27 in the Spanish town of Leon.

Chairman of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation Alexandru Padure told AGERPRES that the objective is ranking on 4th or 6th positions in the overall ranking.

Also representing Romania are Mihaita Constantin Tanasoiu (men’s 81 kg), Nicu Alexandru Vilcu (men’s 89 kg), Darius Stefan Tataru (men’s 96 kg).
