Romania’s Foreign Ministry condemns Russian strike on Kyiv as war crime

Published on

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) condemns Wednesday’s major Russian airstrike on Kyiv, which caused numerous civilian casualties and significant damage, including to the buildings hosting the EU Delegation (EUDEL) and the British Council.

„This is yet another flagrant proof of Russia’s total disregard for international efforts for peace. These attacks add to the long list of war crimes committed by Russia against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” the MAE said in a post on Facebook.

The ministry stressed that every effort must be made to ensure that all perpetrators are held accountable.

„Romania stands in full solidarity with Ukraine and its legitimate struggle to defend its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Our thoughts are with the victims of the attack and their families, as well as with the staff of EUDEL and the British Council,” the MAE press release adds.

At least 14 people, including three children, were killed in Kyiv in one of Russia’s most significant airstrikes against Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities said Thursday, with President Volodymyr Zelensky accusing Moscow of preferring „to go on killing” rather than negotiating peace, AFP reported.
