Romania’s interim President Ilie Bolojan will have a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday before an informal meeting on the situation in Ukraine andsecurity challenges in Europe, the Romanian Presidential Administration has confirmed.
The meeting will take place shortly before this informal meeting at Elysee Palace.
Earlier, the Presidential Administration reported that Bolojan left for Paris on Wednesday morning, on a scheduled flight, to participate in the meeting. He is accompanied by presidential adviser for European affairs Luminita Odobescu.
France announced on Tuesday evening that Macron will welcome Bolojan on Wednesday, and the two will then participate in an „informal meeting via videoconference” with other leaders, the list of which has not yet been disclosed. The French president is holding a series of meetings to strengthen Europe’s contribution to finding a solution to the war in Ukraine, the AFP news agency reports.
At the same time, in an interview with several regional dailies, including Le Parisien, La Provence and Sud Ouest, and published on Tuesday, Macron mentioned the „manipulation” of the electoral process in Romania among the actions for which Russia is an „existential threat to Europeans.”
