The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) Chairman George Simion, who is also the formation’s candidate in the upcoming presidential race, presented on Wednesday the Simion Plan for Romania’s reindustrialization, stressing that bringing round national companies and natural resources is a „strategic priority”.
„I consider Romania’s reindustrialization to be a matter of national security, which is why we are putting on the table the Simion Plan, which provides as a strategic priority the recovery of national companies and natural resources. From our point of view, it is vital for the future of the Romanian economy to invest in petrochemistry, in the steel and the food industry,” Simion told an event organized at the former Grivita rolling stock repair halls in Bucharest.
He added that AUR will be a business partner for entrepreneurs, but also for the large corporations „that act in honesty and want to bring added value and wealth to Romanians as well.”
„If we don’t come up with concrete solutions to protect our industry, as much as it still exists, and help Romanian entrepreneurs develop, we won’t have a country tomorrow. That’s why our proposals are based on realistic calculations. We have natural resources, we still have a lot of opportunities, we still have experts who are knowledgeable in key fields such as petrochemistry and steel processing. (…) Renewable resources alone are not enough, we need an energy mix, we need our mines and quarries to have their closure delayed, especially with the current ongoing regional conflict,” Simion said.
According to the AUR leader, many mistakes made in the recent years „are due to amateurism” and the „clientelistic approach” to running national companies of strategic importance, because, he says, „I refuse to believe that there is a superior power that instructs our leaders what they are allowed to do and what not.”
