Royal House: We’ve learned with great pain the news of Queen Elizabeth II passing

The Royal Family expressed their „great pain” on Thursday at the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, according to Agerpres.

„Her Majesty Margareta of Romania and His Royal Highness the Prince Consort, together with the entire Royal Family, learned with great pain the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” transmitted, on Thursday evening, the Press Office of Her Majesty the Custodian of the Crown

Queen Elizabeth II and King Mihai I, both descendants of Queen Victoria, „were linked throughout their lives by affection, admiration and friendship”, the press release states.

„Her Majesty Margareta the Custodian of the Crown had in Queen Elizabeth II, throughout her entire life, unparalleled support, a model of royal leadership and courage, a bright beacon. Queen Elizabeth was always present in the life of the Romanian Royal Family and kept an uninterrupted family connection. After the disappearance of King Mihai and the Duke of Edinburgh, for Her Majesty Margareta, Queen Elizabeth II was a fundamental point of reference, a moral, intellectual, emotional and institutional support,” the source emphasizes.

The Custodian of the Crown, Margareta, sent a letter to the new British sovereign.

„All generations of the Romanian and British Royal Families have been close, but for today’s generation, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip remain spiritual models and deep sources of inspiration,” states the Royal House.
