The new pension law „hits twice” those who worked in difficult conditions, says the Save Romania Union (USR), which is asking for the correction of this „injustice” through the adoption of the draft law it submitted to Parliament.
„The first retirement decisions under the new law have started to come, and the interpretation of the National Pension House for those who worked in the various work categories is a bigger disaster than what PSD (Social Democratic Party) and PNL (National Liberal Party) had announced in Parliament at the time of adopting this unjust law. The new law indirectly increased the retirement age by 3 years for all miners, energy workers, employees of chemical plants and other workers in special conditions. Basically, the law hits these categories of employees twice: it reduces their money and increases their retirement age,” reads a press release sent on Friday by USR.
USR mentioned that the new pension law also comes with other changes for employees who worked in the hardest conditions in Romania: from a reduction of 13 years as provided for in Law 197/2021, „the Government rounds them down to a maximum of 11 years.” At the same time, if during a month they had any paid day off for professional training, birthday or other right provided for in the collective labour agreement, the entire month is deducted from their special working conditions rights.
USR has submitted to Parliament a draft law to correct these „injustices,” a draft law that was adopted by the Senate, but „got stuck” in the Deputies Chamber for months.
„USR proposes the modification of the new pension law so as to recognize the special and exceptional working conditions for employees whose working conditions have not been normalized. Therefore, they would continue to benefit from the reduction of the retirement age and a more advantageous way of calculating the pension received,” the same source indicated.
