School is „a place full of empathy”, school belongs to the community, the minister of education, Ligia Deca, stated on Monday, at the opening ceremony of the school year at the Mihai Viteazul College in Bucharest, together with president Klaus Iohannis.
The minister also recalled that „the Mihai Viteazul College in Romania was the first Romanian school to have classes especially established for the Ukrainian children who fled the war”.
„My belief is that victories cannot be just individual, and for a deep and lasting change, dialogue is the key”, said Ligia Deca, calling for „zero tolerance” towards any form of aggression.
The minister said that learning begins with critical, free thinking.
„We fought for children in every class, in every school in Romania to receive a scholarship in order to be stimulated to want to be better every day. We support progress, but to the same extent we support performance, through the Olympic excellence scholarships that we grant. We want the school to be a suitable place for quality education and we have investments in schools like we have never had in the last three decades”, said Ligia Deca.
