The selection process of the site at Doicesti, southern county of Dambovita for the safe development of the first power plant with small modular reactors in Romania complies with the approach recommended by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), informs SN Nuclearelectrica SA.

„The IAEA’s SEED (Site and External Events Design) follow-up mission concludes that the site selection process at Doicesti complies with the approach recommended by the IAEA for site selection, as established in the IAEA’s Security Standards. SN Nuclearelectrica SA and RoPower Nuclear, the SMR project company, announces the successful completion of the IAEA SEED follow-up mission, focused on the selection of the site at Doicesti, planned for the safe development of the first plant with modular reactors of small sizes from Romania. We appreciate the professional and independent mission carried out by the IAEA expert team,” the Nuclearelectrica press release reads.

The Romanian scientific team provided solid scientific data and evidence to support the decision to select the Doicesti site for the first SMR development in Romania. Internal teams of experts have carried out investigations, calculations and detailed studies that have demonstrated that the final selection of the Doicesti site is sustainable and in full compliance with the approach recommended by the IAEA for site selection.
