Senate approves an increased contribution of Romania to the IMF

Senators on Tuesday approved in a plenary sitting, as a decision making forum, a draft law initiated by the Government by which Romania’s contribution to the International Monetary Fund is increased.

The senators cast 86 votes „in favour” of the increased contribution, and 15 „against”.

According to thee draft law, Romania’s contribution to the IMF will increase from 1,811.4 million SDR (Special Drawing Rights) now up to 2,717.1 million SDR. The difference of 905.7 million SDR will be paid by the National Bank of Romania.
