A patient with oncological diseases can receive, upon request, 100% of the value of his personal assets in Pillar 2 of the pension system, in a single payment, the Senate Budget and Finance Committee decided on Tuesday, by adopting an amendment to the draft law on the payment of private pensions, initiated by the Government.

In the Government’s form, the project provides, among other things, that people who opt to withdraw money from Pillar 2 – the mandatory privately administered pillar – will initially receive only 30% of the amount, and payment for the rest of the money will be staggered over 8 years.

In the committee, the debates were blocked on the amendment that provides that the same facility as the oncological patient should also benefit patients with chronic debilitating and/or consumptive diseases, from the category of cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, renal, digestive, gynecological, osteo-articular, urological diseases, rare diseases, infections with liver viruses, HIV infection, TB, as well as the category of patients with comorbidities.

„There is a very large number of cases introduced by this amendment, they are not extreme cases. The OECD recommendation is very clear – exceptions for small funds or extreme circumstances. Basically, a Pandora’s box is opened in which the exception becomes a rule”, said the vice-president of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), Dan Armeanu, at the debate in the Senate Budget Committee.

The debates in the Senate Budget Committee were postponed by one week so that the ASF and the Ministry of Health could come up with written points of view on this amendment.

The Senate is the first chamber notified, and the Labor and Budget-Finance Committees of the Senate will report on the draft law regarding the payment of private pensions.AGERPRES
