Senate: first plenary session of the 2024 – 2028 legislature has started

The first plenary session of the Senate of the 2024 – 2028 legislature began on Friday with the singing of the National Anthem.

The Senate session is chaired by senior senator Ioan Stan (PSD), who has the highest number of fulfilled parliamentary mandates.

There are 114 senators in the hall out of the 134 elected.

In this first sitting there can be no parliamentary debates, with the Validation Committee composed of 15 senators to be set up, in line with the political configuration of the Senate, resulting from the elections.

After validating the mandates, the senators will take the oath.

On Thursday and Friday, all 134 senators elected for the 2024 – 2028 term of office submitted at the Senate, the original certificate proving their election to the Senate, at the reception center for the senators declared elected following the parliamentary elections of December 1.
