The acting President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, stated on Wednesday that, in his opinion, one of the priorities of the acting head of state, Ilie Bolojan, is to send a signal of stability and the continuation of the European and pro-NATO path for Romania’s foreign partners.
„First of all, to assure international partners of stability, because that’s what Romania needs at this moment. There is a climate of instability, there was a deep political crisis, which I hope has ended with this normal transition, with the resignation of President Iohannis, with the takeover by acting President Bolojan of the state leadership for 100 days. I believe that the most important signal is the external one for our partners, for the European Union, for the United States, for NATO: ensuring the maintenance of this path,” Abrudean told Antena 3 CNN.
Another priority should be, according to Abrudean, a signal of stability for foreign investors.
„Then, an extremely important signal for foreign investors, because we are talking about the decrease in the country’s rating, we are talking about the increasing interest rates at which the Romanian state borrows, caused by this situation of instability, of crisis. So, I think that here the first steps are needed for Mr. President Bolojan to take”, said the interim president of the Senate.
At the same time, Ilie Bolojan should ensure „better communication, which generates trust, eliminating certain suspicions regarding the spending of public money and other expected things”, added Mircea Abrudean.
