Senate’s Abrudean says Romania to continue to allocate resources for modernization of armed forces

Published on

Increasing the operational capacity of the armed forces and strengthening resilience are two national objectives that must be supported by an integrated legislative vision, says the Speaker of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean.

„On the sidelines of the NATO Industry Forum, organized in Bucharest, the Aspen Institute Romania, together with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Romania, organized the roundtable meeting on the theme ‘Cybersecurity and Dual-Use Technologies’. As speaker of the Senate, participating in this event represented for me a new opportunity to clearly support the need to strengthen national resilience and increase the operational capacity of the armed forces. These are two national objectives that must be supported by an integrated legislative vision, in which the Parliament, through the Senate, acts as a guarantor of strategic coherence,” Abrudean wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

The PNL senator emphasized that Romania would continue to allocate resources for the modernization of the armed forces.

„Although we are going through a period of complex economic challenges, we will continue to allocate the necessary resources to modernize the armed forces, strengthen resilience and maintain Romania’s role as a reliable and capable ally within NATO and the EU. It is essential to provide a coherent framework of policies and regulations that support investments and technology transfer, ensuring that ethical, legal and security standards evolve along with innovation. By integrating local production and innovation capacities into regional, European and global supply chains, Romania not only strengthens its defense base, but also contributes to the economic growth and industrial resilience of our country”, added Abrudean.
