Senator Ciuca warns about need for multisectoral co-operation in tackling child trafficking

Child trafficking is evolving, and that calls for multisectoral co-operation, which allows the identification and application of solutions and actions adjusted to the realities faced by minors, according to Senate Chairman Nicolae Ciuca.

„Figures show that almost every day we lose a child at the hands of traffickers, which is unacceptable. The fight against child trafficking can be won. It is very clear who we are fighting for, whom we are fighting with and whom we are fighting against,” Ciuca said in a video message to the participants in an international conference on trafficking in minors organised by Justice and Care Romania and the Senate on Tuesday the Parliament House.

He added that human trafficking is a complex subject that has to be seriously tackled.

„Human trafficking and especially child trafficking is a complex subject, not at all comfortable and precisely because it is not comfortable, it is our duty to tackle it seriously,” added Ciuca.
