Sizzling heat advisory issued for nine counties and Bucharest for Wednesday

Weather forecasters issued on Wednesday a Code Yellow advisory of persistent heat and high thermal discomfort effective throughout the day in nine counties and in Bucharest.

According to the forecast, the heat wave will keep the southern half of Oltenia and Muntenia in its grip and will extend to Banat too.

The thermal discomfort will remain high, as the temperature-humidity index will reach the critical threshold of 80 units, temperature highs will exceed the normal for this time of the year, hitting 34 – 35 degrees Celsius; the night will be tropical, with lows around 20 degrees.

The Code Yellow advisory covers the counties of Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Dolj, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Mehedinti, Olt, Timis, Teleorman and the Municipality of Bucharest.
