The State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense for the relationship with the Parliament and the quality of life of the personnel, Eduard Bachide, had a meeting, on Friday, at the 86th Air Base in Fetesti, with the Spanish Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, according to Agerpres.

The Chief of the Defense Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, and his Spanish counterpart, Admiral Teodoro E. Lopez Calderon, were present at the meeting, informs a press release from the Ministry of Defense (MapN).

Eduard Bachide highlighted the consistency of bilateral military collaboration, as well as the development potential for the future.

„The Bilateral Cooperation Plan for 2022 covered multiple activities in the field of aviation and anti-missile defense, cyber, naval, military medicine and military education. I am confident that we will be able to intensify this cooperation during 2023 and in the following years in areas that we will agree in the framework of the work of the Joint Military Commission that will take place soon, in Bucharest”, stated Secretary of State Bachide, according to MApN.

He emphasized that Russia’s aggressive actions in the region, especially after the start of the illegal and unjustified war against Ukraine, have a significant impact on European security, highlighting the importance of cooperation between allies to implement the measures decided at the Madrid Summit to strengthen the allied defense posture and discouragement on the entire Eastern Flank of the Alliance.

The Spanish minister of defense met with the troops of the Spanish Air Force deployed in Romania, in the 86th Air Base, to carry out Reinforced Air Policing missions.
