Speaker Grindeanu to discuss with protesters from Deputies Chamber after joint plenary session of Parliament

Published on

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Sorin Grindeanu, on Tuesday stated that he would discuss with the representatives of the protesters at the Parliament after the joint session of the two Chambers.

„We will consider everything that the cut means both for the staff at the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. And you all know that cuts were already made here at the beginning of the year. All these things will count when we do the analysis on Parliament’s exact situation,” said Grindeanu before the joint plenary session.

A spontaneous protest began at the Chamber of Deputies, before the plenary session, with representatives of the unions from the Senate and the Chamber present. They are dissatisfied with the possibility of having their salaries cut by 10%.

The protesters chant „Cut from you, not from us!” and carry banners reading messages such as: „Without us, the state falls. With us, the state is silent”, „We work, they ignore us”, „Contractual staff in the Chamber of Deputies deserve respect”, „Central institution with the smallest of salaries”. AGERPRES
