Spotlight Festival to bring more than 20 art installations in an interactive laboratory of light in the Capital City

Published on

More than 20 art installations from Romania and other European countries will be on display during the 9th edition of the Spotlight Festival from October, 10 to 12, with visitors invited to enjoy the „Capital of Light”.

The theme of this edition – „Symbiosis” – proposes a change of perspective: „from competition to collaboration, from immediate results to living processes”, informs the City Hall of the Capital City. The curator will be stage designer Adrian Damian.

This year’s route extends from Calea Victoriei to adjacent areas, to ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni and to partner locations – Mega Mall and Promenada Mall. The programme will begin, each day of the festival, at 7:00 PM and it will end at 11:00 PM.

„More than 20 art installations from Romania and Europe will transform the urban space of the Capital City into an interactive laboratory of light art. The edition’s news: partnership with Lille Video Mapping Festival, conferences and panels with international guests, the launch of a database dedicated to Romanian artists in the field of light art and new media,” informs the City Hall.

Spotlight, the first and largest light festival in the Capital City, brings together more than 300,000 participants annually.

„We want Bucharest to be a city that inspires and surprises, and through projects like Spotlight we show that our urban spaces can acquire new meanings and new stories. I invite Bucharest residents and visitors to enjoy, between October 10 and 12, the Capital of Light,” informs the interim general mayor of the Capital City, Stelian Bujduveanu.

Spotlight is held in partnership with the Lille Video Mapping Festival, strengthening cultural exchanges between Romanian and French artists. At the same time, the festival includes, for the first time, conferences and panels with international guests, representatives of the most important festivals in Europe, which will take place at Hanul Gabroveni.

In the spring of this year, ARCUB launched a database of Romanian artists in the field of light art and new media, with the aim of promoting their creations at a national and international level.

Starting with the 9th edition, Spotlight also has a new visual identity, which will be used in all media communication.

„The communication campaign for Spotlight #9 carries the message ‘When art lights up, the city surprises you’. The campaign speaks about the true potential of the city, which takes shape through the creativity of artists and through the public’s encounter with the art of light. Two realities coexist and give rise to a third: ‘The city that surprises you’ – a space where collective imagination transforms Bucharest into a living, dynamic and spectacular organism,” mentions the same press release.

More information about the festival programme and participating installations will be available on arcub.ro and spotlightfestival.ro. AGERPRES
