The SSIMA Re: Imagine Healthcare International Medical Technology Conference, organised in Oradea until September 10, will include a medical technology exhibition for the first time at the Oradea County Hospital, according to Agerpres.

„We have a surgery robot brought from England for this event to be shown to doctors, who will be able to test it, through live demonstrations, as well as other technological innovations that use artificial intelligence,” the main organizer, ElenaOvreiu, founder of the International Summer School on Imaging for Medical Applications (SSIMA) told AGERPRES on Monday.

The co-organizer of the conference, Dr. Gheorghe Carp, the manager of the Oradea County Emergency Clinical Hospital, said at the opening ceremony, that he wants to turn the County Hospital, which is the largest in the country, with over 1,900 beds, into a modern hospital, a smart hospital, continuing on another level the last-minute investments made in the last ten years.

Almost 200 doctors, PhD students, bioengineering professors and medical technology specialists from over ten countries are participating, between September 5 and 10, at the SSIMA RE: Imagine Healthcare International Medical Technology Conference, a large-scale medical event, unique in Eastern Europe, at its 6th edition, hosted, for the first time, by Oradea, in the great hall of the City Hall.

Among the 40 guests are internationally renowned professors from Harvard, Oxford, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, as well as ministers and secretaries of state.

For one week, topics related to the digitalization of hospitals (technologies that use artificial intelligence, such as digital colonoscopy, digital pathology), robot surgery, precision medicine will be discussed.

The conference is organized by the International Summer School on Imaging for Medical Applications (SSIMA), in partnership with Oradea City Hall and the Oradea County Emergency Clinical Hospital, and is held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, under the auspices of the most prestigious professional society in this field, the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (MICCAI).

At the same time, the event takes place with the support of the Politehnica University of Bucharest, the Romanian Society of Anesthesia and Intensive Care (SRATI) and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization.
