Statistics: 10.5% drop recorded in number of building permits for residential areas Jan-Aug

The number of building permits issued for residential buildings decreased by 10.5%, in the first eight months of the current year, compared to the same period in 2021, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reads.

Thus, from the beginning of the year until August 31, 30,620 building permits were issued for residential buildings, and decreases were recorded in all development regions.

According to official statistics, in August 2022, compared to July, 4,043 building permits were issued for residential buildings, up by 4.6%, with a total usable area of 1,070,581 sq m (-6.4%). Of the total authorizations, 69.3% are for the rural area.

During the same period, an increase in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (+178 permits) was clear, compared to the previous month.

Also, in August 2022, 635 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings (+20.5%), with a total usable area of 216,357 sq m (-15.5pct).

Compared to July 2022, there was a decrease (-39,588 sq m) in the usable area in building permits issued for non-residential buildings.

Regarding the comparative data of August 2022 vs August 2021, the INS highlights a decrease both in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings (-17pct), and in the total usable area (-10.6pct).

Also, in the reference interval, there is a decrease both in the number of building permits issued for non-residential buildings (-6.3pct), and in the total usable area (-7.2pct).
