The Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) is convening today at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of President Nicusor Dan.
It is the first CSAT meeting since Dan took over the as President of Romania.
A previous CSAT meeting took place on April 30, before the presidential election, and was chaired by interim President Ilie Bolojan. At today’s meeting, Bolojan will participate as vice-president of CSAT, after becoming the prime minister of Romania.
According to the Presidential Administration, the following items feature on the agenda of the CSAT meeting: recent developments in and prospects for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine following the illegal and unjustified aggression of the Russian Federation – implications for Romania; the armed forces and means of Romania that can be made available for participation in missions and operations outside the territory of the Romanian state in 2026; information tax evasion, as a threat and risk to national security; information on the situation created as a result of recent flooding of the Praid Salt Mine – community and environmental implications; the activity carried out by the National Directorate of Cyber Security in 2024 and the main objectives for 2025.
