Almost a third of postal services users went to a post office in the last 12 months to pick up packages and waited, on average, around 13 minutes to come into possession of them, according to the results of a survey carried out by the National Communications Administration and Regulation Authority (ANCOM), Agerpres reports.
In this context, 80pct of the respondents stated that they want to receive the packages of any postal provider in automatic systems.
However, about a third of the Romanians who use postal services argued that they picked up packages from the automatic systems, these being appreciated mainly for speed, proximity and availability.
According to the research, the majority of postal services users are recipients of mail, while six out of ten (62pct) people argue that they have not sent any letter, card or document in the last 12 months, 59pct that they have not sent a package, however, 81pct received packages and 57pct received letters, postcards or congratulations cards.
The data centralized by the ANCOM reveals that the sending of letters, postcards or congratulations cards has been replaced by the use of electronic communication services and/or digital services: SMS/instant messages are the most popular substitute (68pct), followed by e-mail (43pct), phone calls and online social media platforms.
According to the quoted source, 73pct of postal service users made online purchases in the last year, over 40pct of them with a monthly or even weekly frequency. In such situations, eight out of ten respondents believe that the speed of delivery is very important.
Furthermore, digital platforms (Glovo, Bolt, Bringo or Tazz) delivered purchases for 45pct of online shoppers.
In respect to the delivery times and the prices used in the postal segment, more than 40pct of all those surveyed believe that letters and packages reach their recipients in approximately 3-4 days, without significant differences between urban and rural areas.
Although the delivery time is important for most users, the respondents would prefer a slower delivery of packages in exchange of lower delivery costs (24pct) or even free delivery (30pct).
The main sources of information are the provider’s website (24pct), the postal service provider’s employees (21pct), respectively.
The ANCOM survey was carried out in June 2022, using the Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) method, on a main sample of 1,436 people aged over 16, directly involved in using postal services in the last 12 months. The maximum margin of error is +/-2.6pct.
