More than 500,000 payment applications for hectare subsidies have been submitted so far for a total area of more than 4.6 million hectares, but additional effort is needed to ensure that all applications are received by the 5 June deadline, Interim Agriculture Minister Tanczos Barna said on Wednesday at a press conference.
He stressed that the deadline for receiving payment applications will not be extended.
‘As regards payments and payment applications at APIA, the most important thing is to meet this 5 June deadline so that we receive all applications. The Ministry of Agriculture does not intend to extend this deadline. Applications are submitted daily, and APIA worked over the weekend last week and will work over the weekends in the coming weeks, so that we can receive all applications. By today, more than 500,000 applications have been submitted for a total area of over 4.6 million hectares, but we need an additional effort to be able to complete the receipt of applications in due time,’ Tanczos Barna said.
According to him, the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) has also started issuing loan certificates for those who requested them.
‘APIA has also started issuing loan certificates where this has been requested, and we are moving forward with this application submission procedure,’ the interim minister stressed.
The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture reminded farmers at the beginning of May that the deadline for submitting payment applications under the 2026 campaign is 5 June, inclusive.
‘To avoid congestion in the last few days and possible delays, farmers are asked to respect the appointments set by APIA staff and to submit their applications in good time. We remind them that only one payment application is submitted, even if the applicant uses land areas and/or holds farms with an ANSVSA code in different localities or counties. Farmers who are APIA beneficiaries will update their information for the 2026 campaign. The payment application, including the area declaration, is completed in the AGI Online geospatial application, in accordance with the instructions available on the APIA website. In the case of accessing schemes in the livestock sector, farmers will complete the sector-specific declaration, according to the appointment set with APIA staff, before accessing AGI Online. Signing the payment application is mandatory, and APIA encourages the use of electronic signature,’ said a statement published on the APIA website on 6 May.
