Temporary exemption from visa requirements for Romanian citizens to visit Mongolia

In connection with the decision of the Government of Mongolia to declare 2023-2025 as the “Years to visit Mongolia”, the Cabinet has made a decision to temporarily exempt from visa requirements for the nationals of the following 34 countries, who are traveling to Mongolia for tourism purposes. This includes 32 developed European countries (including Romania), Australia, and New Zealand, which lead the number of tourists visiting Mongolia, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affair of Mongolia.

The decision, aimed to attract foreign tourists and facilitate travel conditions, was made at the meeting of the Cabinet on 4th of January, 2023 and will be effective until the end of 2025.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) welcomes the decision of the Mongolian authorities to liberalize the visa regime for Romanian citizens, holders of simple passports. Thus, starting from 2023, Romania appears, along with 33 other states, from the European Union, but also from other regions, on the list of states whose citizens are exempt from the obligation to hold a visa to travel for tourist purposes in this state, according to a press release issued by (MAE).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision of the Mongolian authorities to liberalize the visa regime for Romanian citizens, holders of simple passports. Thus, starting from 2023, Romania appears, along with 33 other states, from the European Union, but also from other regions, on the list of states whose citizens are exempt from the obligation to hold a visa to travel for tourist purposes in this state.

MAE informs that, according to the data publicly communicated by the Mongolian authorities, the period for which Romanian citizens can travel without a visa is a maximum of 30 days.
