Published on

Ten cities out of sixteen registered are going to be announced on Tuesday at the M100 Climate Neutrality Forum, organized by the M100 National Hub, as part of the initiative Mirror Mission Cities Hub Romania – the mirror mission of the EU Mission „100 smart and climate-neutral cities.”

The Forum represents a unique initiative in Romania, as it brings together for the first time cities, ministries, representatives of the European Commission, of the European Investment Bank, of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), alongside representatives of the associative sector, both academic and private, as well as independent experts, under a common topic: supporting Romanian cities in their transition to climate neutrality.

Minister of energy Sebastian Burduja and minister of research, innovation and digitalization Alexandra Bocse are expected to speak at the event, alongside state councillor in the department for clime and sustainability of the Presidential Administration Mihaela Frasineanu, state councillor with the Prime Minister Chancellery Ovidiu Cimpean, secretary of state with the ministry of investments, European projects and coordinator M100.

The event will be attended by mayors and representatives of cities that want to become climate neutral by 2035, as well as members of the international jury made up of renowned professionals from various relevant fields, such as urban planning, climate neutrality or sustainable development.

The forum for climate nutrality M100 offers, for two days, a dialogue platform for identifying solutions and financing opportunities, opens debates and presents examples of good practices through case studies from Romanian cities, as well as partner cities: Stavanger, Trondheim and Reykjavík.

The M100 Forum is part of the project Towards Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities through Mutual Learning, Engagement and Capacity-Building, financed by EEA and Norwegian grants through the Fund for Bilateral Relations and implemented by UEFISCDI as programme operator, in partnership with Urbanize Hub – Association of the Institute for Local Development, the Order of Romanian Architects (OAR), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Nordic Edge, and RANNIS – Icelandic Center of Research.
