The Government of Romania adopted two essential Decisions for the Romanian civil nuclear program and for the proper functioning of the integrated nuclear circuit, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy.
The Government adopted the Decision regarding the updating of the centralized inventory of goods in the public domain of the state as a result of the dismantling of a building located in the public domain of the state and under the administration of the Ministry of Energy. This normative act represents the penultimate normative act necessary to complete the transaction of technological flows for the processing of technical uranium concentrates between the National Uranium Company, in insolvency, and the National Nuclear Electric Company.
The act involves the dismantling of some plots of land in the town of Feldioara, Brașov County, after GD no. 402/2022, it was approved the registration in the centralized inventory of the assets of the public domain of the state of immovable assets owned by the state, owned by Compania Naţională a Uraniuului – S.A., in insolvency, and the transfer to the Ministry of Energy of the immovable assets necessary to ensure and maintain the integrated nuclear fuel manufacturing cycle in Romania, the goods being expressly indicated in the annex to the decision.
The second adopted Government Decision makes possible the transfer, for the purpose of processing, by the Romanian state, through the Ministry of Energy, of the technical uranium concentrates from the safety and consumption stock, established in the period 2009-2011, which are in the private property of the state and in the custody of Compania Nationala a Uraniuului SA, in insolvency, to Societatea Naţională Nuclearelectrica S.A. This Decision creates the legal means of maintaining the integrated nuclear cycle in order to ensure the necessary raw material for SNN, following that these technical concentrates will be processed in order to obtain nuclear fuel used for the operation of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant.
