The head of German diplomacy says Putin only wants to destroy Ukraine

Published on

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said in Lisbon that the European Union has tried everything to stop the war in Ukraine, but Russian President Vladimir Putin wants nothing more than to destroy the neighboring country, Reuters reports, Agerpres reads.

Present at a conference in the capital of Portugal, the head of German diplomacy stated that Putin’s position is the reason why it is „important to continue the arms deliveries, so that Ukraine can defend itself and can protect the lives of its citizens”.

Annalena Baerbock declared, at the same time, that the decisions of the European Union should no longer be blocked by individual states.

„Qualified majority voting can lead to fairer outcomes for all of us,” Baerbock said.

„We must be able to act efficiently and quickly”, said the head of German diplomacy.

Annalena Baerbock stated that many times EU member countries cannot draft a press release „because they cannot agree on the same wording”.
