TM2023 / Ceau,Cinema! Festival celebrates 10 years of existence with jubilee exhibition and album-book

Published on

An exhibition dedicated to the history of the Ceau, Cinema! Festival will be on display at the House of Arts in Timisoara from 6 to 16 July, during the 10th edition of the event, together with a jubilee album about previous editions, write Agerpres.

The documentary exhibition offers a glimpse into the past and behind the scenes of the festival, right in the place where it began, in 2014. At Casa Artelor, for the first time, it will be possible to see posters, artworks, photos, clips, trophies and unpublished objects from the last nine years of cinematic travel, says a press release from the Ceau,Cinema! team sent to AGERPRES on Friday.

It is an opportunity to show gratitude to the visual artists who have contributed to the festival’s distinctive image: Alin-Adnan Vasile, Felix Petrescu, Mircea Popescu, Mimi Ciora and the artists of the Balamuc group, Lucian Popovici, The Orion, Sorina (Vazelina) Vasilescu, Razvan Cornici, Alexandru Savescu, Amandine Banescu, Levente Benedek, Lucian Muntean, Dan Ungureanu, joined by Ion Barbu and Dan Perjovschi with two special drawings.

„Just as a film is a succession of frames, the film of Ceau, Cinema! is represented precisely by these posters and visuals that have inspired and accompanied the festival over time. Each work on display tells a different story, reflecting on the one hand the diversity and energy of the festival and on the other the passion of the participants,” says artist and curator Mimi Ciora, who guided the preparation of the exhibition.

The 10 days will be an opportunity for guided tours with artists and members of the festival team, to show the process from the first idea to the official poster. The exhibition, coordinated by Lucian Mircu, one of the founders of the festival, can be visited at the House of Arts every day from 17.00-20.00. Admission will be free.

Another way to thank the community of film lovers in whose midst the festival has grown is the publication printed on the occasion of the 10th edition. The album-book, titled „Ceau, Cinema! Behind the scenes,” is a chronicle in images and stories seen through the eyes of the organisers, partners, guests and loyal spectators. It can also be read as a slice of the history of independent culture in Timisoara over the last 15 years, especially of cinephilia.

The exhibition-anniversary is organised by Marele Ecran Association and Pelicula Culturala Association.

Ceau, Cinema! is a festival dedicated to European film, organised by Pelicula Culturala Association and founded together with Marele Ecran Association.

The project is part of the „Timisoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023” National Cultural Programme and is financed under the European Echoes programme, run by the Timisoara City Project Centre, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the Ministry of Culture budget.
