The music of Giuseppe Verdi and Franz Lehar will be heard again in Parcul Rozelor, Timisoara, August 25-27, during the 18th edition of the outdoor opera and operetta festival organised by the Romanian National Opera in Timisoara (ONRT), write Agerpres.
Lyrical soloists will give life to the main characters in „Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi, the opera that opens the festival on Friday evening, „The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar, with the last Verdi evening raising the curtain for „La traviata.”
„This edition comes with an exceptional house cast, which is always better than what the guests bring. At least, that’s what the audience tells me, and that’s why I’m proud of what we do. The festival starts with ‘Aida’, a gift of the ONRT for the Verdi public who could not watch the performance on the anniversary of the birth of the Timisoara Opera House, on April 27, 1947, when this work by Verdi was performed for the first time in Timisoara. Now, we offer it Urbi et Orbi, with an exceptional cast of the house,” ONRT manager Cristian Rudic told AGERPRES on Friday.
The three evenings of the festival will include some of the most famous creations of performing art, so that the public will have the opportunity to meet outdoors artists and edifying works for the development of the genre at this moment.
