The total value of bilateral exchanges between Romania and the United Arab Emirates in nine months of this year was 375 million dollars, more than the total volume recorded in 2021, according to a press release from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Municipality of Bucharest (CCIB), Agerpres informs.
Of this amount, the export was 300 million dollars (+29% compared to 9 months 2021), and the import 75 million dollars (+37%).
On September 30, 541 companies with UAE capital were registered in Romania, worth 53.5 million dollars, representing 0.09% of the total foreign investments in Romania, placing the UAE in 37th place among the investing states in our country.
According to the source, at the CCIB headquarters there was a meeting of the president of the Bucharest Chamber, Iuliu Stocklosa, with Sultan Mohamed Majed Alali, the new ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania, who was accompanied by Mahrah Alshaya Al-Ali, the deputy head of mission.
The main objective of the meeting was to identify concrete methods of collaboration, with the aim of promoting the potential of the two economies and boosting bilateral cooperation.
The CCIB president emphasized that the two countries offer significant opportunities for cooperation, especially in industry, but also in education and research.
In the opinion of the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania, the Romanian-UAE economic relations, although old and strong, still have significant potential for amplification. Regarding the key fields, the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Romania said that energy, transport, agriculture, information technology, but also the logistics field offer significant opportunities.
