Train with 28 wagons loaded with 1,500 tonnes of waste denied entry to country at western border

Published on

A train with 28 wagons loaded with 1,500 tonnes of waste from the Czech Republic was denied entry to Romania by the Arad Environmental Guard, after checks in Curtici established that the transport did not meet the legal requirements.

On Wednesday, the Environmental Guard of Arad informed that the train was checked at the entry into the country together with the border police on Tuesday.

During the control, it was found that the cargo wagons were full of iron and steel scrap, which came from the Czech Republic and were intended for a trading company in Galati.

However, the company from Galati did not register this transportation in the ROAFM online application, although according to the law this must be done at least 24 hours before the waste enters the country.

The environmental guards have denied the train’s access to Romania.
