Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu said on Tuesday that he is optimistic that solutions will be found for a strike at the Metrorex Bucharest underground operator to be avoided.
„There are ongoing negotiations between management, between employers and unions. I am optimistic and I tell you that optimism comes from this morning that solutions will be found, so that this strike can be avoided and all the demands of the unions can be sustainable, because we can ask for a lot of things, but if that demand does not stand economically, of course the employers will come and say that it cannot be done. But I met with the unions, the responsible secretary of state met with the unions two-three times and with the management. I am optimistic, I have no fears that we will not settle this conflict,” Grindeanu said after the release of the Social Democratic Party’s governing programme for 2024 – 2028, when asked by journalists if it is possible for Metorex to go on a strike in November.
Metrorex Director General Mariana Miclaus said on Tuesday that negotiations with the social dialogue partners for the conclusion of a new collective labour agreement will continue.
„We are still in negotiations with the social dialogue partners. We will have the necessary wisdom, both sides, so that the citizens will not suffer. The negotiations are indeed intense, long. (…) We will have another meeting with the partners. I hope and believe that we are on the right track to solve the problems of both sides, to find the optimal solution for society in general,” said Miclaus.
