Turning the Port of Constantia into the main logistic hub on the Black Sea is an essential objective for boosting regional resilience and with increased relevance at the time of launching Ukraine’s reconstruction process, said on Wednesday, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, who attended the opening of the event dubbed DP WORLD – 20 years of efficiency and innovation in Romania and also in the operationalisation of the new port infrastructure investment within the National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanta.

„I am glad to be here today with you to inaugurate one of the most important investments in the Port of Constanta. These new terminals will generate an annual increase of one million tonnes of cargo. This means billions more that will feed the accounts of the companies operating here, revenues that will stimulate Romania’s economic growth,” said Ciolacu.

„This event also marks 20 years of presence of the Emirati company DP WORLD in Romania. It is a special moment to take stock, but also an opportunity to look to the future. I am convinced that the new projects will bring substantial benefits to our economies and will facilitate European and international interconnectivity. Allow me, however, to express my appreciation for DP WORLD’s activity in Romania. Allow me, however, to express my appreciation for DP WORLD’s work in Romania. It has been 20 years of major projects, such as this one, with multiplier effects in the economy, which have created numerous jobs. It has been 20 years and investments of more than 200 million euros that have added a new dimension to our logistics market. Basically, you have given the start to the emergence in Romania of modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment,” Ciolacu said.

According to him, the project of new port terminals realized by DP WORLD also responds to a strategic need of Romania, especially in the current security context.

„DP WORLD thus contributes to the transformation of the Port of Constanta into the main logistics hub on the Black Sea. It is an essential objective for boosting regional resilience and with increased relevance at the time of launching the reconstruction process in Ukraine. I am convinced that the operationalisation of the RO-RO terminal will strengthen the strategic value of the Port of Constanta and will support the growth of Romanian exports,” added the prime minister.

DP WORLD’s presence in Romania is also in line with the interest in developing bilateral relations between Romania and the United Arab Emirates, premier Ciolacu went on to say.
