UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania) leader Kelemen Hunor sent a message of support for prime minister Ilie Bolojan, leader of the PNL (National Liberal Party) on Friday, in his speech at the party’s congress, and for the steps taken so far regarding the state reform.
The leader of the UDMR emphasised the long-standing partnership between the UDMR and the National Liberal Party, which began in the 1990s.
„Mr. prime minister Ilie Bolojan, we have a long history with the National Liberal Party, a very long partnership, since the 1990s. And a few months ago we set out together on a long and difficult path. I want to congratulate you for the courage to start the state reform. It is not an easy thing. It is very difficult, I see it every day, every week,” said Kelemen Hunor.
The leader of the UDMR added that the reform that has been started must be carried to the end and assured that his party will remain a loyal partner in this process.
„If I may, I want to encourage you to carry out a real, systemic reform to the end, at the end of which we will all feel that the state institutions, indeed, serve the citizens and not the other way around. You can count on us in this battle, in all the decisions we will make together,” said Kelemen Hunor, thanking the prime minister for his presence at the congress.
The congress of the Hungarian Democratic Union in Romania began on Friday, in Cluj County, with about 1,000 participants.
Prime minister Ilie Bolojan and his Hungarian counterpart, Viktor Orban, as well as the interim president of the PSD (Social Democratic Party), Sorin Grindeanu, are present at the event. AGERPRES
