The Ambassador of Ukraine to Romania, Ihor Prokopchuk, handed out on Thursday the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise (3rd degree), an award of Ukraine, to Social Democratic Party (PSD) senator Vasile Dincu, in a ceremony held at the Senate, according to Agerpres.
On 23 August 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the Decree on the decoration of the then minister of National Defence Vasile Dincu with the State Award of Ukraine „for significant personal merits in strengthening inter-state cooperation, upholding the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and significant contribution to the popularization of the Ukrainian state in the world”.
„It is not necessarily an award for me, but it is an award for the Romanians, for the contribution in support of Ukraine that ordinary people, institutions, civil society, the Ministry of National Defence, the government have made. We should take relations between Romania and Ukraine to a higher level, thinking first of all about the future, thinking that we need a strategic partnership, because in this area of Europe we also have a common enemy. Unfortunately, we also have common weaknesses and we have an economic and social area that we can make very good use of in a very good relationship for the future. The fact that the Romanians spontaneously collaborated with the Ukrainians shows that we have extraordinary potential for collaboration. I believe that through open, continuous dialogue, we can resolve all the disputes or false disputes that we have at the moment with Ukraine,” said Dincu, Thursday at the Senate.
According to him, „relations between the two countries have a very good potential for future development”, which would justify a possible strategic partnership between our country and Ukraine.
