• MEP Luis Lazarus (NI) wonders whether the European Union, through the European Commission, might have had a hand in this, since it was claimed that, through this PNRR, the country would fare better and the population would prosper.

“As you know, Romania is facing an extremely serious political crisis. And this political crisis has, as if on cue, struck at exactly the moment when we were supposed to meet the final milestones of the PNRR. Milestones that, if we fail to meet them, will mean we lose around 10 billion euros.

According to my sources, it appears we have already lost about 5 billion.

Now, as a former investigative journalist and a seasoned analyst, I can’t help but wonder. Could it be that the European Union, through the European Commission, has a hand in this, because the idea was that you were offering us this PNRR so that the country would fare better and the population would prosper?

But all these people who have governed Romania in recent years and who have failed to meet these milestones—they are to blame, not the people.

Why should the people suffer for their incompetence? And so, if we have a prime minister who was dismissed by the people’s elected representatives, what is he still doing in office?

Why doesn’t he resign, on the grounds that another government might come in and meet these targets? Or is it in the interest of the European Union and the Commission for these milestones not to be met so that the money doesn’t reach Romania?” said MEP Luis Lazarus (NI).

“Let the crooks who have mortgaged the country pay, not the people who are not to blame! And let those schemers, with their manipulations, stop claiming that the people voted! They didn’t vote! You systematically block the procedure for advancing the bill and the voting process, so that what we want rarely comes out, and it’s always only what you want!” says the MEP.
