Luis-Vicențiu Lazarus (NI), an independent member of the European Parliament, after standing alongside European farmers in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg in January, announced that he will continue to stand with them if the effects of Mercosur cause them to take to the streets in protest.
Luis-Vicențiu Lazarus (NI): I have been, am, and will continue to be a supporter of European farmers’ rights, just as I stood with them in front of the Parliament in Strasbourg.
The full message from independent MEP Luis-Vicențiu Lazarus (NI) during the farmers’ protests in Strasbourg:
“We are here with European farmers in front of the Parliament in Strasbourg.
We were just in the chamber to vote, but nothing related to Mercosur was voted on. Tomorrow there will be a vote on Mercosur, but we voted against other things, of course, which were related to an emergency procedure to grant another loan to Ukraine.
“Why should we focus on farmers’ issues when we can vote on some matters related to Ukraine? Under the emergency procedure, let’s grant some more loans,” Lazarus said.
