Luis-Vicențiu Lazarus (NI), an independent member of the European Parliament, claims that the European Union wants Romanian politicians to raise their salaries, even though those same politicians have been working hard to cut our wages!
And how they’re effectively trying to impoverish the entire population. So you haven’t noticed this until now, huh? But when Bolojan’s packages were voted on in Parliament, didn’t you notice it on TV? Oh, amazing! Aside from the fact that the reality is that they tried as hard as they could and managed to get a liquidation, it’s basically operating under a court order. What else have you done, huh? Did you like it? Bolojan is bringing order! Bolojan is wonderful! Nicuşor Dan is the smartest! If we don’t vote for these guys, it’ll be bad! The euro will go up—well, it didn’t!
It’s going to be bad, these guys are going to screw us over—but we’re not even close! We’re going to borrow at exorbitant interest rates—but that’s exactly what we’re doing! Wow! But don’t say a word about the money you’re giving to Ukraine! But don’t say a word about the shady deals these guys are pulling! Two smooth operators, these two, the nation’s mom and dad, Bolojan and Nicuşor—extraordinary! So you want to raise your salaries, huh? Extraordinary! Incredible! And the height of irony is that this pay raise for everyone would supposedly be a milestone in the PNRR.
So the PNRR is forcing us to raise politicians’ salaries because they’re at the top of the food chain, they’re at the top of the pay scale. Look, when I need a doctor, I’d want the best doctor if I had, I don’t know, some kind of condition. Or when I want to send my kids to school, I’d need the best teachers.
Why don’t we want to have the best politicians, too? Because politics… politicians, because politics is everything, man. Politics is absolutely everything, man; everything stems from politics, man; these guys decide absolutely everything that happens to us, man. We have the dumbest politicians, who mess with those good doctors we want and are happy to have, and those good teachers we want and are happy to have—the politicians come along and ruin everything.
What the hell are illiterate politicians doing in the Romanian Parliament? What are ministers who pad their resumes doing in the executive branch, in the government? What the hell is someone like Bolojean doing there, who supposedly took three hours of math? What the hell are all these people doing running Romania? It’s unbelievable how… You want to raise your salaries? Well, have you raised child benefits? Have you raised the allowances for the poor souls with disabilities? Well no, you’ve actually cut them, haven’t you? Have you raised people’s salaries, pensioners’ pensions? Have you lowered taxes, the VAT? Have you lowered diesel prices, like they’ve done in other countries? You haven’t done any of that, have you? Aren’t you ashamed, you jerks? Well, as long as we’re alive, you won’t get a single pay raise. Is that clear?”
