Unemployment rate down 02.pct in October 2025 against September (National Statistics Institute)

Romania’s unemployment rate accounted for 5.9% in October 2025, in seasonally adjusted form, down 0.2% against the figure recorded in September 2025, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The same source revealed that the unemployment rate for men was by 0.2% higher than for women.

The number of unemployed people (aged 15-74) estimated for October 2025 was 487,300 people, going down compared to the previous month (497,400 unemployed in September), but up compared to the same period of the previous year (463,700 unemployed in October 2024).

By gender, the unemployment rate for men exceeded that of women by 0.2 percentage points (the values being 6.0% for men and 5.8% for women).

According to the INS, the high level of 26.9% of unemployment among young people (15-24 years old), recorded between July and September 2025, is still noteworthy.

For adults (25-74 years old), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.6% for October 2025 (4.7% for men and 4.5% for women).

The number of unemployed people aged 25-74 accounts for 73.5% of the total number of unemployed people estimated for October 2025. AGERPRES
