The government approved on Tuesday the Electric UP 2 program under which small and medium-sized enterprises and companies in the HoReCa sector can get up to 150,000 euros in aid for the installation of photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging stations.

„Through an emergency ordinance, the government supports small and medium-sized enterprises and the HoReCa sector to ensure the necessary energy by the installation of photovoltaic panels and EV charging stations. The Electric UP program continues with a new funding stage whereby each beneficiary can receive up to 150,000 euros in aid. Three quarters of the eligible expenses are covered from funding received through this program, while the SMEs are to provide the remaining 25 percent of the project’s value,” the government’s spokesman Mihai Constantin told a press conference at the Victoria Palace.

The Electric UP 2 program will be financed from the state budget and is worth a total RON 450 million.

In the first implementation stage of this support scheme, over 1,500 SMEs and HoReCa economic operators received financing for the installation of photovoltaic panels and EV charging stations.

„Also, the upper limit of the PV system’s installed capacity increases to 150 kW, to ensure self-consumption, and the consumption of the charging stations of at least 22 kW, for electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles,” Mihai Constantin mentioned.
