The strong upward trend of Romania’s cooperation with the state of Baden-Wurttemberg motivates us for projects of common interest in new fields, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday, upon receiving, at the gov’t’s Hqs, the Victoria Palace, a delegation led by the prime minister minister of the German federal state, Winfried Kretschmann, who is on a working visit to our country.
On this occasion, two joint declarations were signed regarding the strengthening of cooperation between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Land of Baden-Wurttemberg and, respectively, bilateral cooperation in the field of civil protection.
The joint declaration regarding the cooperation between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Land of Baden-Wurttemberg, signed by Marcel Ciolacu and Winfried Kretschmann, reaffirms the good collaboration between the two sides, including from the perspective of resuming as soon as possible of the meetings of the Romania-Baden Wurttemberg Governmental Joint Committee, as well as for the expression of common support for the Republic of Moldova, the Executive said in a press release.
The second document, the Joint Declaration of Cooperation in the field of civil protection between the Ministry of Internal Affairs from Romania and the Ministry of the Interior, Digitization and Local Administration of the Land of Baden-Wurttemberg, was signed on behalf of Romania by the secretary of state in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations, and from the German state, by the secretary of state Thomas Blenke.
„The signing of the two documents represents an extremely important signal in the direction of the deepening and evolution of the bilateral relationship, especially since, among the German states, Baden-Wurttemberg is the main commercial partner of Romania. The volume of commercial exchanges reached 8.32 billion euros in 2023 , from 733.43 million euros in 2013, meaning an increase of about 12 times in the last decade. It is an evolution that motivates us and we want to resume as soon as possible the meetings of the Romania – Baden-Wurttemberg Joint Governmental Committee to implement the new projects identified in areas of common interest such as the economy, energy, environmental protection, culture, internal affairs, agriculture, education and health,” PM Marcel Ciolacu said.
The Romanian Executive’s head also emphasized the contribution of the numerous Romanian community in Baden-Wurttemberg to the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
The relations between Romania and the federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg are limited to Romanian-German cooperation, which has a strategic character and is one of the most developed and complex relations of our country with another member state of the European Union.
