European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Nicusor Dan on Tuesday for his inauguration as President of Romania, saying that „together” they must show everyone that „a strong Europe, with a strong Romania at its center, offers solutions.”

„I congratulated Nicusor Dan on the phone,” Ursula von der Leyen wrote on her X account.

„You are now the president of all Romanians. Together, let’s show everyone that a strong Europe, with a strong Romania at its center, offers solutions,” added the EC head.

„This is the noble work I want to do with you,” she added.

Nicusor Dan took office on Monday after taking the oath of office, thus becoming the fifth president of Romania since December 1989.
