US authorities expected to announce on October 15 lifting visas for Romanians as of 2025 (sources)

The US authorities are expected to announce on October 15 a decision on lifting visas for Romanians, a decision that will apply as of next year, from 2025, government sources said.

Romania’s government is currently running „Qualifying Romania” campaign aimed at including the country in the Visa Waiver Program.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced the launch of the campaign on July 18.

„Today we are launching ‘Qualifying Romania’ campaign and we aim, making an analogy with football, to qualify Romania for the Visa Waiver Program, with the goal of traveling to the United States without visas. There is a huge opportunity, valid only until September 30. Therefore, I ask all Romanian citizens who have valid B1 or B2 visas and those who have had such a visa to apply for visa renewal. This is how we will reach the maximum refusal rate of 3% and I am convinced that by engaging as many Romanians as possible in this campaign, we will travel to the United States next year without visas,” the PM said in the government meeting.
