High representatives of the United States of America, the European Union, the Republic of Moldova and Romania are discussing, on Friday, in Galati, about alternative routes for transporting the grains from Ukraine, according to a press release of the US Embassy in Bucharest, which also states this country’s support for „ensuring uninterrupted continuity of Ukrainian grain exports”, write Agerpres.

The Minister of Transport, Sorin Mihai Grindeanu, Jim O’Brien, who heads the US office that manages the sanctions regimes (U.S. Sanctions Coordinator), Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, Magda Kopczynska – director for Water Transport with the General Directorate for Mobility and Transport, representatives of the European Commission and the Minister of Agriculture from the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Bolea.

„In the face of adversity, unity wins. In a crucial meeting, which will take place in Galati tomorrow [Friday – editor’s note], Romania, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, the European Commission and the United States will join forces, following Russia’s exit from the Black Sea Grain Initiative,” the US Embassy informs. Thus, during the meeting, recognition will also be given to Romania, „for its steadfast efforts in supporting Ukrainian grain exports.”

Despite Russia’s ruthless destruction of Ukrainian port infrastructure and grain warehouses, the embassy stated it will remain committed to ensuring the uninterrupted continuity of Ukrainian grain exports to meet global demand. Thus, the topic for Friday’s discussions will be the improvement of alternative transport routes for grains from Ukraine. „Working together, we are determined to strengthen and diversify alternative routes for grain exports by rail, road and sea, while ensuring Ukraine’s essential role in the global food market,” said the quoted source, who denounces Kremlin for „turning food into a weapon and endangering global food security.”
