On Tuesday, the president of Save Romania Union (USR), Elena Lasconi, who runs for Romania’s Presidency, asked the leader of the liberals, Nicolae Ciuca, to come with an answer, within hours, if his party supports or not the censure motion that the Save Romania Union is going to initiate.
„We are working on the text of the censure motion to bring down this incompetent and corrupt government. We ask all democratic parliamentary forces, right-wing forces to join us in our effort to offer Romanians a predictable, democratic government that they want to do good for the country. And a special message for our former partners from PNL – you have a few hours to show the Romanians whose side you are on, the side of the people or the side of Marcel Ciolacu (PSD’s leader, ed. n.). I know that it is difficult to get away from the money bags of the Government, (…) but let’s not forget that the PNL did a lot of good things in Romania’s history 100 years ago. You can no longer go hand in hand with the PSD and say that you are the descendants of the Bratianu family,” Elena Lasconi told a press conference at the Palace of the Parliament.
She added that the USR would not have started the steps regarding the censure motion if it had not heard Nicolae Ciuca’s „opening” to leave the government.
The USR president added that the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) parliamentarians are free to vote on the censure motion that the Union Save Romania is about to initiate, but the USR does not accept signatures from them on the document.
