Save Romania Union (USR) leader Elena Lasconi on Friday sent a message on the occasion of the Day of the Unification of the Romanian Principalities, urging Romanians to stand united and strong together, at a time when we are „more divided than ever”.
„January 24 is an important day for all of us – the Day of the Unification of the Romanian Principalities. But don’t you think that we should make every day – Unification Day? We are more divided than ever. We’ve split into camps, we fight among ourselves over what others do. We don’t listen to each other anymore. Let us not forget what we can achieve together,” Lasconi wrote on Facebook.
According to her, 166 years ago, the Unfication of the Principalities was possible because our forefathers understood how strong we are together, not divided.
„Let us not forget this lesson from our history and maybe we should still use in 2025 ‘Cuza’s Oka’, to catch with a small oka [rigged OKA weighing device, smaller in volume/weight than the official standards, editor’s note] all those who do not show us respect, all those who trample justice under their feet. This is the only way forward. To stand united, to stand strong together. This is what I wish you on our feast day,” reads Elena Lasconi’s message.
