USR President Cătălin Drulă said on Monday that he will call elections for the party leadership.
He told a press conference at USR headquarters that the election result was „below expectations” of USR members and voters.
„Of course, we could talk about causes, look for explanations, find excuses or wonder if democracy is still democracy in Romania, but for me, in my whole life, assumption has been a basic principle. I assume this result and I will call elections for a new president in USR as soon as possible. We have strong people and leaders who can take this construction forward, and I am thinking here for example of Dominic Fritz, a man who decisively won the vote in Timisoara and showed that PSD and PNL can be defeated”, said Cătălin Drulă.
The president of the Union Save Romania said that „it is very important that USR continues”, because in this party „the hopes for the modernisation” of Romania were placed.
