Save Romania Union (USR) national leader Elena Lasconi said on Friday that the tragedy at Colectiv remains „an open wound”, given that the Colectiv 2 case has been closed.
„Another slap in the face for those who lost everything, for the parents, brothers and friends of the 65 young people who lost their lives at Colectiv. The Colectiv 2 case has been closed. The Romanian Justice decided – which wants to show us daily that it is no longer for everyone – that no one made a mistake at Colectiv. Neither Banicioiu, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) health minister at the time, who told us that ‘we have everything’, nor the hospital managers who did not transfer patients abroad. Those who had the power to save lives did not do so, and now they escape accountability,” Lasconi wrote on in a social media post.
She added that injustice and corruption „are still rules in Romania.”
„Colectiv remains an open wound for this country, which we will not be able to close as long as corruption and injustice are still rules in Romania. We have a mission not to give up. The fight for a just country, where no one is above the law, must go on.”
